Build Your Own Kamayan Workshop - April 27
Kamayan is a traditional Filipino communal dining practice where food is served on banana leaves and eaten by hand, symbolizing unity and connection. It typically features a vibrant spread of dishes like grilled meats, seafood, rice, and tropical fruits, creating a visually stunning and flavorful feast. This cultural tradition emphasizes sharing, hospitality, and enjoying meals together in a warm and festive atmosphere.
This is an interactive Kamayan Workshop! We will cook Filipino food together (roll lumpia and fry, make pickled salads, cut up fruits, BBQ/grill demonstrations, skewer meats, make garlic and java rice, sauces and more). Then, together, with the guidance of co-owners Charlene Young and Darren Young, we will build out a Kamayan spread. They will teach attendees how to set up a Kamayan (washing banana leaves, center pieces, plating) and encourage attendees to tap into their creative side! THEN WE ALL FEAST TOGETHER!
Each ticket purchase is for 1 attendee and comes with a free bottle of The Fattened Caf BBQ Sauce, recipe folders, a to-go box, and a soda or tea of choice.
Bring your own wine or beer.
